Well, another lovely warm day in Houston, Greg and I spent most of the day looking at a small handful of Houstons many Art Gallery’s. Starting with the Menil Gallery, Heaps of modern expressionists , Andy Warhol, Picaso and heaps of ancient artifacts some over 17,000 years old. A great gallery where you could get right up close to Picaso’s worth millions of dollars, No barriers or protective glass on any works, just amazing!
The next stop was a Chapel by the famouse American abstract expressionist Mark Rothko
The large Brick building was just one very big room surrounded in 14 Big Canvas paintings each one painted simply with a different shade of Black and Dark Blue.
Our last gallery for the day was the Cy Twombly Gallery, an entire Gallery dedicated to the works of Cy Twombly, there were a few amazing pieces in there that you would usually only be able to experience in books!
After that we all met up in Rice Village for a big feed before heading back to the hotel for a swim and a few beers.
Not sure if anyones been watching the news lately? There is a huge Hurricane moving across the country at the moment destroying everything in its path! There are quite a few people we have met down here that have fled to Houston from places around the New Orleans area to escape the 165MPH Winds and Flood waters ripping apart entire towns in its path! Looks like it should miss us here in Houston completely. But the devastation will still be felt by all because of the amount of people fleeing to this part of the Deep south to escape the Carnage.
On a positive note, we start work tomorrow, yay!! will be good to catch up with the crew from the last trip, Might try to convince one of them to take us down to Mexico one weekend ! Not sure of my chances but oh well, no harm in trying!
Ive put a couple of pics of the gallerys.. kinda boring but if you want to have a look here they are..
